CSS & Seed Expo 2019 in Chicago

Symborg will participate this week at the 2019 CSS & Seed Expo, the most important Crop Innovation and Seed Fair in the United States. This meeting of seed producers and delegates from other agricultural companies brings together close to 2500 professionals annually in Chicago and Symborg will have a stand to share its biotechnology, based on natural microorganisms to increase crop yields.

The CSS & Seed Expo is organized by the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA), the largest organization devoted to the seed market in the United States. For this edition, ASTA has organized a comprehensive program of conferences and discussion panels on current issues within the agricultural sector.  An updated economic report on the global agricultural market will be presented with predictions for 2020. There will be talks about the use of robots and drones in agriculture, the emergence of the hemp seed market, and a review of the current situation of biological products, etc.

Symborg’s natural microorganisms

Symborg will present its solutions based on natural microorganisms, such as its latest and revolutionary product, BlueN. BlueN is the first nitrogen-fixing biofertilizer capable of replacing chemical nitrogenous fertilizers. Developed from the selective Methylobacterium Symbioticum SB23 strain, discovered and patented by Symborg, BlueN allows plants to assimilate nitrogen from the air through the leaves in a natural way and with proven effectiveness that provides savings of up to 60% of nitrogen fertilizer usually obtained through the soil.

In addition, Symborg will exhibit its products specifically intended for seed treatment. Symborg’s seed coating products are composed of natural microorganisms that remain dormant in the seeds until germination. Once the seeds are planted, the microorganisms are incorporated into the plants and become beneficial agents for their development. They work thanks to a natural biological principle and therefore do not produce undesirable residues in plants or alter their genetic characteristics. This method is 100% compatible with the environment.

This is the case of Symborg’s well-known biological inoculant, Resid HC, based on Glomus iranicum var tenuihypharum, an arbuscular mycorrhizal forming fungus discovered and patented by the company. This fungus colonizes the roots of the crop and forms symbiosis with them. It allows the roots to explore a large volume of soil, facilitating better nutrient transfer to the plant. In addition, it is a species that tolerates high concentrations of nutritional salts in the soil, guaranteeing adequate tolerance to current intensive agriculture fertilization protocols.

In the case of grain cereal seeds, Symborg’s treatments have proven their efficacy, improving production quality and yield. Production increases by 6% in corn and by more than 8% in soybean. In wheat, the results show increases in production ranging from 9.7% to 16%, depending on the variety. In barley, production increases from 8.5% to 15%.
